چکیده

Background Myocardial tissue characterization with T2-weighted imaging is an established technique for evaluating the presence of myocardial edema or iron overload (Kellman, P. MRM 2007, Anderson, LJ. EHJ 2001). More recently, both T2-mapping and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) mapping have emerged as quantitative techniques for characterizing edema (or iron overload) and water mobility. The purpose of this work was to develop a framework for the simultaneous recovery of both T2 and ADC from a single breath-hold acquisition.

Histogram-based characterization of healthy and ischemic brain tissues using multiparametric MR imaging including apparent diffusion coefficient maps and relaxometry.

Decreased, renormalized, or increased values of the calculated apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) are observed in stroke models. A quantitative description of corresponding tissue states using ADC values may be extended to include true relaxation times. A histogram-based segmentation is well suited for characterizing tissues according to specific parameter combinations irrespective of the het...

Exploring the Possibility of Estimating Degree of Glioma Tumors by Measuring Apparent Diffusion Coefficient

Introduction: Most common glioma tumors are tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) which are the cause of about 40 to 50 percent of brain tumors. This type of cancer includes 2 to 3 percent of cancers in the world. Conventional MRI is powerless in the detection and differentiation of benign and malignant tumors. In this case, diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) can create cont...

Quantitative assessment of diffusion abnormalities in posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Previous studies have shown that lesions in posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome are often isointense on diffusion-weighted MR images. We hypothesized that 1) apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps using various thresholds would show larger abnormalities in posterior white matter (WM) and 2) isointense appearance of lesions on isotropic diffusion-weighted image...

Comparison of apparent diffusion coefficient maps to T2-weighted images for target delineation in cervix cancer brachytherapy

PURPOSE T2-weighted (T2W) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used for target delineation in cervix cancer brachytherapy. The objective of this study was to examine the feasibility of using diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) for target delineation as compared against T2W imaging. MATERIAL AND METHODS Fifteen cervix cancer patients, implanted with tandem and ovoid applic...

Differentiation of benign and malignant breast lesions by apparent diffusion coefficient value in mass and non-mass lesions

Background: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is one of methods in evaluation of breast lesions. We aimed to investigate the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in breast tumors and their accuracy in differentiating benign versus malignant lesions. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 72 patients with 88 breast lesions were investigated by 1.5-T breast MRI from 2015 to 2017 in Athari...
